Why merino wool?
High quality knitwear begins with the materials.
We chose 100% extrafine merino wool, a natural fibre prized for its softness, breathability and many other super powers. Beautiful to wear and practical to care for, it offers the qualities we believe children's everyday clothing should have.
Exceptionally soft
Not all wool is created equal.
Merino wool comes from Merino sheep, a breed known for producing exceptionally fine, soft fleece. Unlike many other sheep breeds that produce coarser wool, Merino sheep grow much finer fibres, making their wool particularly suited to clothing worn close to the skin.
Our knitwear is crafted from carefully selected Italian merino yarn, with a fine fibre diameter of just 19.5 microns.
This is what gives our merino its smooth silky softness, without the coarse, prickly feeling often associated with traditional wool.
Merino wool and sensitive skin: what science tells us
For years, wool has had a reputation for irritating sensitive skin, with cotton traditionally considered the safer choice for children prone to eczema. But emerging research is challenging that assumption.
A 2017 clinical study published in the British Journal of Dermatology compared the effects of wearing superfine merino wool with conventional cotton clothing over 12 weeks, and children experienced improvements in eczema severity scores while wearing superfine merino wool compared with cotton.
Researchers highlighted the importance of fibre fineness and wool's natural moisture-regulating properties, which help maintain more comfortable conditions next to the skin.

Naturally temperature regulating
One of merino wool's most remarkable qualities is its natural ability to help regulate temperature.
Its fibres provide insulation in cooler conditions while absorbing and releasing moisture vapour, helping children stay comfortable through changing temperatures and activity levels.
Breathable and moisture managing
Unlike fibres that simply hold moisture against the body, merino wool can absorb significant amounts of moisture vapour within its fibres and gradually release it into the surrounding air.
This helps manage the humidity around the body, reducing that uncomfortable, clammy feeling and making merino a wonderfully comfortable layer for busy days of playing, exploring and everything in between.
Naturally odour resistant
The unique structure of merino fibres can absorb and hold odour molecules, helping prevent unpleasant smells from building up as quickly as they can in many other fabrics.
This means merino knitwear can stay fresher between wears, and a little airing may be all that's needed after an ordinary day.
More wearing, less unnecessary washing. A welcome little advantage when there's already enough laundry to do.

Naturally flexible, made for movement
Merino wool has a natural elasticity that allows its fibres to bend, stretch and recover their shape.
Despite their exceptional fineness, merino fibres are naturally resilient, helping well-made knitwear withstand repeated wear while maintaining its shape and softness.
The result is comfortable, durable knitwear that moves with children throughout their day, offering gentle flexibility without compromising the shape of the garment.
Machine washable
Beautiful knitwear should not have to be saved for special occasions.
Our merino yarn is specially developed to be machine washable, so our sweaters and beanies can be washed on a gentle wool cycle at 30°C.
A little thoughtful care goes a long way. Wash with a wool detergent, reshape while damp and dry flat to help preserve their softness and shape. Discover our Care Guide
Tested for harmful substances
Our merino yarn is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, meaning it has been tested for harmful substances according to a recognised textile testing standard.
Because what touches your child’s skin matters just as much as how beautifully they are dressed. We believe thoughtful design begins with carefully chosen materials, giving parents confidence in the quality of the clothes their children wear every day.
Mulesing-free wool
Our merino wool is exclusively sourced from mulesing-free suppliers as a part of our commitment to animal welfare and responsible sourcing. For us, choosing natural fibres also means paying attention to how those fibres are sourced.
