Tansy began during my maternity leave, around the time my daughter entered toddlerhood.

I was looking for the kind of sweaters I would wear myself: timeless pieces in soft, high quality natural fibres. No teddy bears, no cartoons, no acrylic blends. I assumed they would be easy to find. They weren’t.

And when I did find beautiful knitwear for my daughter, it often came with a hand-wash only label and the feeling that it ought to be kept well away from lunch. Toddlerhood had other plans. Muddy parks, messy meals and all the usual chaos of life with a small child. 

That was the beginning of Tansy. I wanted to create timeless, high quality knitwear that could be part of an ordinary day with a toddler while still feeling beautiful and elevated. 

Tansy is an independent brand, allowing motherhood to shape every decision from the start. The question has always been simple: what would I genuinely want my own daughter to wear? That means never compromising on natural fibres, comfort, practicality or craftsmanship.
